~The body is the root of all fear, for without the body there would be nothing to fear~
Imagine you have three distinct parts to your whole Self... your mind, your body, and your heart. There is the physical heart that pumps blood through your body to keep you alive, and then there's the heart that you can't see, but you can feel. The heart that you can't see is like a bridge between the world that you live in now and the world you go to after you die, regardless of what your belief is about what happens to you after you die. It's the part of you that people remember after you are gone from this earth, which will always stay alive in their own hearts.
And then there's the mind. The mind is the part that talks to you all of the time. The constant voice in your head that you forget is even there, but controls you, and you don't even realize it. It's the part that makes decisions, engages in conversations with others, and it's also the part that stirs up emotions created by the thoughts that you think. The mind is essential for life here on earth; it's like your pilot. But if you hire a critical co-pilot, the other voice that questions, criticizes, and second-guesses, it will affect your quality of flying through the seasons of your life.
And then there's the body. The body is your vehicle. If you don't take good care of your vehicle, it eventually breaks down into its basic parts, which are then distributed for other uses or eventually decompose. It is the voice of the mind that creates fear for what is inevitable for the body. We fear death, we fear being hurt, we fear the process of aging, we fear the creation of illness, and we fear not being good enough during the time we are here on earth.
Because of that fear, we allow others to have control. We validate our worth by allowing others to touch it, prescribe it, take from it, and tell us how to live to be worthy. Everything in your world affects the quality of your health and vitality. The environment that you live in, the people you spend time with, the work that you do, the thoughts that you think, the food you consume, and the air that you breathe.
We have a common understanding that our body is an organic living organism, and to sustain life, it requires food, water, and sunlight (a natural source for the essential vitamin D). It makes sense then that what we feed our bodies should also be as close to its organic state as possible in order for it to digest and function properly within all its complex systems and parts. Our body does break down what we consume, but what it doesn't recognize, it gets creative with how it stores inside the body.
A standard practice for those who read the ingredients on food labels is, if you can't pronounce it, question it. Do your research from reputable sources to gain a better understanding of how you are nourishing your body, your fuel for life. This is when you go back to that bridge of the heart, where your gut instinct lives. It is your natural intuitive nature that is always within you on the other side of the bridge, trying to communicate with you. Trust it.
In our busy world, where it is easy and convenient to remain blissfully ignorant, knowledge becomes power when you create your own internal navigation system. This is the act of love and compassion for you, your body, and the quality of life you choose for yourself during your precious time here on earth.
